There is NOTHING to write about.

My Hot Button is lukewarm and cooling.

I don’t want to continue down the Polanski path right now and that’s all the mail that came in yesterday and I don’t even want to give the column over to those insightful, deserving readers.  (If you really want to chew on it some more right now, go to this Oscarwatch.com forum.

I guess there is a reason why Cradle to The Grave is the only wide release this weekend.

It’s not that I’m tired.  It’s not that I have an MCN column to do.  (That double dip’ll come tonight.)  It’s just that there is nothing going on.

Calley has re-upped.  God bless market share and the Japanese obsession with it.

Mark Ordesky got a job upgrade.  He deserves it.

Even the Iraq War threat is in a dormant sleep, as a floor speech on a reality TV hillbilly show became the lead footage from Congress for the day.

Letterman’s lead guest, Sharon Osbourne.  Leno’s lead guest, Dennis Miller.  Jimmy Kimmel’s lead guest, Shari Belafonte Harper.  Yes, it’s just that boring!  (And no, Jimmy Kimmel’s bookers couldn’t get a star as well known as Belafonte-Harper. Last night, he had on Nicole Eggert and Jimmy’s cousin, Sal.)

Maybe it’s finally time for Premiere to produce a late February Swimsuit edition featuring Pilates-powered executives and publicists.  It’s not enough that veteran entertainment writer Anna David is going to turn up in Playboy next week.  Robin Davids has had a few weeks to recover from giving birth… get her in a bikini already!

Nothing!

Heck, it’s not even fun busting on Jeff Wells when he’s out of the country!  Ain’t it Cool News has suffered the slings and arrows of outrageous Facer so there is no room for abuse there.  Weinstein is played out.

Roger Ebert’s schedule for the Fifth Annual Overlooked Film Festival came out.

Things pick up tomorrow, as the Big Parade O’ Oscar Winners starts up again.  I look forward to sitting down with some of the most talented people in the business.

In the meantime, it’s a good time for long, long, long lunches…

READER OF THE DAY:  Filmmaker Mimi George writes:  “LOW-FI FILMWORKS IS LOOKING FOR A FEW GOOD INTERNS!

We recently shot a short documentary film and we are looking for interns who would like to learn what goes into documentary post-production. This film will air on KCET and do the film fest circuit. Their first big job will be transcribing tapes and it's possible that the position will turn into an editing assistant credit. No pay, but we might be able to arrange college credit. Must be a fast, competant (sic) typist.

Please pass this on to anyone who might be interested or who might know someone who wants to get their foot in the door of the documentary / reality TV industry.

Interested parties may either email meemsterama@hotmail.com”

E ME:  You e-mailin’ to me?  You must be e-mailin’ to me!  There ain’t nobody else at this e-mail address.
