It's Friday… and
I have nothing to write about.
Manohla Dargis
got her first NYT byline… Tigger didn't molest a 13-year-old girl… the
billboard of Chloe Sevigny going down on Vinnie Gallo came
down while Vinnie went down on Roger Ebert in Chicago… Mission:
Impossible 3 pushes to 2006 while Bryan Singer is pushed
off the Fox lot… Fahrenheit 9/11 played on Cuban TV, but it was
piracy, so it was okay…
NOTHING!
I look forward to
seeing you next week. In the meantime, go see Collateral and
let me know what you think.
READER
OF THE DAY: ASTORIA SACK MAN writes: "You hit the nail
on the head with, "If it costs a family of four $35 in tickets
alone to go to the movies on a weekend and buying the DVD four months
later costs $20 and can be experienced over and over for no additional
cost, how quickly will we stratify the movie loving public, essentially
forcing people to choose not only the specific movies, but the kinds
of movies they will pay to see in theaters?"
Why can't the higher-ups
in the entertainment industry figure this out?
People don't download
music or movies because they're crooks. They do it because paying $20
for a cd with three good songs on it is a waste of money.
Did you know there
are no matinee shows in New York City? $10.25 a ticket, all day, everyday.
In two months, I can own that movie for $15.
I'm not saying they
should give the stuff away. But if the prices keep rising, you're damn
right more people will turn away from the theatres."
