I'm working on more insight into the situation with IFP, LA & NY. But today's column offers just a look at the boards that lead both organizations. The differences are, I think, striking. The absence of Miramax and Sony Picture Classics on either coast is noticeable as well.

What is the difference between a heavily distributor-driven board and a primarily producer-driven board?

Is the dearth of actors and directors on the IFP/NY board a good indicator of why IFP/LA's events get more attention?

Is it scary to you that the only micro-distributor on either board is Strand? (Not that I find Strand scary, but rather the absense of those who will lead the future of under $10 million indie cinema.)
