Geez…
isn't it Saturday yet?
A
mid-week holiday really does throw a monkey wrench into things.
And
what could be a less interesting thing to come back to than a new Bond who is
- OH GARSH! - blonde.
You
can count me on the fan side of the list on Daniel Craig. He is a good
guy and a good actor and, God knows, no one would have expected "the ugly
guy" from The Road To Perdition to become James Bond just a few years
later. Anyone who saw Layer Cake is a lot less surprised.
Interesting
would have been black or Indian or E.U. born or a woman.
But
I'm sure Craig will do a good job and he does have more edge than any Bond since
Connery.
Are you
bored yet?
I am.
The
new video iPod?
It
doesn't seem that you can put your own video on it and view it. So what's the
point? Do you want to play $1.99 to watch a TV rerun? Would you pay money to watch
music videos on a 2" screen? How grounded will your kids be if they pay for
that silly opportunity?
Domino?
I
like half of it.
I
find what Tony Scott is trying to do with the camera and the titling, etc.
to be pretty interesting. The story of Domino Harvey is compelling. And
Keira Knightley, more a star than an actress, holds her own with style,
sexiness, and humor.
And
through the first act the somewhat hyperreal, stylized story of a young girl who
gives up the laconic glamour of her life to become a bounty hunter rings true
enough to keep you in it. And then, Scott jumps the R.V… literally. And what was
compelling about the film becomes a lot less gripping because we just stop believing
it.
None of
this weekend's movies were able to get past 305 on the Rotten Tomatoes scoreboard.
Ouch. Anyway…
For
a short week, it was an awfully intense week. At least, for me.
Have
a great weekend.
E-ME.
