Word has it that
Warner Bros. is selling off its animation division to Paramount so that
Jeffrey Katzenberg can explore the entire Bugs Bunny oeuvre.
Time-Warner's Cartoon Network will remain part of the empire, but as
part of this deal, a number of Nickelodeon Shows will air exclusively
on Cartoon Network. Meanwhile, Nickelodeon will remake all of the classic
Warner Bros cartoons in 3D CG.
I saw The Inside
Man… don't feel much like writing about The Inside Man…
Saw a terrific documentary
called Gay Sex In The 70s… don't feel much like writing about
Gay Sex In The 70's…
Columns that need
writing include… well, every time I preview pieces, they end up being
written elsewhere first. All I'll say is that next week should be a
good column week.
Oh, did I mention
that the first paragraph was a little April Fool's Day preview?
Right now, the entire
business feels like death by a 1000 cuts. Every studio but Fox remains
"in play," in one way or another. The question about shortening
the DVD window seems to be swinging back towards slowing down instead
of speeding up… yet at the same time, the are some very specific rumors
about the window being sped up exponentially. The web keeps growing,
but doesn't seem to be improving. Print media is more nervous than a
turkey on Halloween. Etc, etc, etc. But there is nothing much to do
but to wait to see what steps various players take. Until then, it's
jibber jabber, chat chat chat.
And so comes one
of those weekends… Sharon Stone's breasts… Queen Latifah
as a wooly mammoth… leeches, not set in L.A…. and Warner Bros trying
to sell a movie to black people. Phew!
See you next week…
